Kathmandu, October 28
The Madeshi Morcha and its alliance of ‘pro-identity’ parties continue to remain silent on the issue of the proposed impeachment of CIAA chief Lokman Singh Karki.
A meeting of the Federal Alliance, of which the Morcha is a part, has upped its ante against the government, which its supports from outside, to take concrete steps to implement past agreements, including the one on amending the constitution.
The alliance has also said it will not accept any proposal to restructure the local bodies, until the issue of provincial boundaries has been settled.
The alliance says that the government, which committed to amending the constitution to address it demands, said us trying to steer away from the constitution debate by taking up other issues.
According to sources, a meeting of the alliance did discuss the proposed impeachment of Lokman Singh Karki. But as a ruling ally registered the motion in parliament without discussing it with supporting parties, the Morcha has decided not to say anything on the issue.
