Kathmandu, January 4

Prime Minister Prachanda claimed on Wednesday political parties will come to an understanding pretty soon, thanks to the Supreme Court ruling on the Constitution Amendment Bill and his efforts aimed at building consensus.

PM said: The court ruling has encouraged political parties to arrive at consensus. And I am doing my bit for consensus. Given the way the political situation situation is shaping up, opposition parties will have no option but to let the Parliament resume, while the Madheshi Morcha will have to support the (government-sponsored) Constitution amendmentt proposal. There will be a political understanding sooner than later.

Implementing the Constitution is the main responsbility of the government, Prachanda said, adding that he accepted the post of PM, believing that it will be possible to bring diverse groups and parties like Madheshis, Tharus, indigenous nationalities, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML together. Very soon, my promise to bring the Himalayas, Hills and the Tarai together will come true.

He said national development has taken a backseat as the government had to focus more on resolution of political issues. Prachanda pledged to link politics with development and said his government’s development initiatives have started giving positive results.
