
Kathmandu, February 18
A team of Nepal Police has reached in Odisha, India, to coordinate the security of Nepali students at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University.
Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba confirmed on Tuesday morning that two senior Nepal Police officials had reached the university.
The visit follows the suspicious death of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal from Butwal in the university’s hostel. Minister Rana stated that the Nepali government has been closely monitoring the developments surrounding the incident.
“A team of two senior Nepal Police officers from the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi has reached at the university to assess the situation and ensure a safe environment for Nepali students,” she said.
She further informed that the Nepali embassy in Delhi has been actively engaging with Indian authorities and the university administration to facilitate a secure stay for Nepali students in the hostel.
“The Nepali embassy has been taking necessary diplomatic steps. Following diplomatic discussions yesterday, the university has already appealed to students to return to their hostels,” she added.
