The Ministry of Health and Population has revised the national testing guideline for Covid-19. Now, with the new guideline, the government will require all people with likely symptoms of coronavirus infection to undergo the polymerase chain reaction tests.
The ministry has listed fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, and diarrhoea also as possible symptoms of Covid-19. Likewise, all contacts of Covid-19 cases and people with chronic illnesses will also be tested.
Public health expert Anup Subedee has commented that the new guideline is better than the previous one as it has expanded the criteria for testing.
