Kathmandu, June 5
The stock market index NEPSE, along with transaction amounts, saw a decline on Wednesday. NEPSE dropped by 5.58 points compared to the previous day, which had seen an increase of 6.22 points. The total transaction amount also decreased, shrinking from Rs 4.08 billion to Rs3.99 billion.
Despite the overall decline, 83 companies experienced a rise in their share prices, while 158 saw a decrease, and 6 remained unchanged. The microfinance sector index notably increased by 1.31 per cent (60 points). Additionally, the manufacturing sector rose by 28 points, and the finance index increased by 2 points.
Other sectors, however, faced declines. The banking sector fell by 7 points, development banks by 12 points, hotels and tourism by 29 points, hydropower by 16 points, life insurance by 55 points, non-life insurance by 26 points, others by 11 points, and the trading sector by 31 points.
Bhagwati Hydro recorded the highest price increase at 10 per cent. Manakamana Smart Microfinance saw a rise of 9.8 per cent, Maikhola Hydropower increased by 9.6 per cent, Bijay Microfinance by 7.9 per cent, Laxmi Microfinance by 7.6 per cent, and NADEP by 7.3 per cent.
On the other hand, Aper Lohorekola Hydro’s price fell by 5.5%, Rasuwagadhi Hydropower decreased by 3.6%, and Apersolu Hydro dropped by 3.4%. Leading companies based on transaction amounts included NRN Infrastructure, CEDB Hydropower, Sanima Mai Hydropower, Pokhara Finance, and Global IME Microfinance.
