
Kathmandu, March 17
Nepal’s stock market saw a decline on Monday, with the NEPSE index falling to 2,704 points, marking a drop of 10.14 points from the previous day.
Along with the index, the overall trading volume also decreased. Compared to the previous day’s turnover of Rs 6.83 billion, today’s transactions amounted to just Rs 5.40 billion. A total of 85 companies recorded gains, while 145 saw a decline, and 13 remained unchanged. The trading sector suffered the biggest drop of 3.38% as the price of Bishal Bazaar Company fell.
Among other sectors, Banking declined by 0.21%, Development Bank by 0.92%, Hydropower by 0.23%, Life Insurance by 0.51%, Microfinance by 0.01%, Non-Life Insurance by 0.02%, and Others by 0.56%. In contrast, the Manufacturing & Processing sector rose by 0.44%, Investment by 0.18%, Hotels & Tourism by 0.18%, and Finance by 0.12%.
Top gainers included Rapti Hydro, which surged by 9.8%, followed by Samudayik Laghubitta (8.0%), Green Development Bank (5.3%), Manushi Laghubitta (4.1%), and Eastern Hydro (3.2%).
On the losing side, Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank dropped by 5.6%, while Ghalemdi Hydropower fell by 4.5%, Bishal Bazaar by 3.7%, and Win Nepal Laghubitta by 3.0%.
In terms of trading volume, the leading companies were Himalayan Reinsurance, Nepal Reinsurance Company, Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank, NRN Infrastructure, and CEDB Holdings.
