NEPSE: Stock market sees transactions worth Rs 21.86 billion, reaches 2796 points

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index reached 2796 points on Monday, marking an increase of 40.76 points compared to the previous trading day. The total value of transactions amounted to Rs 21.86 billion.

The market saw price increases in 163 companies, while 78 companies experienced declines and 1 company remained stable. The hotel and tourism sector led the gains with a 6.69 per cent increase, followed by the other sectors with a 5.73 per cent rise.

Hydropower increased by 3.09 per cent, investment by 3.52 per cent, life insurance by 3.23 per cent, and non-life insurance by 1.25 per cent. Conversely, the banking sector decreased by 0.50 per cent, development banks by 0.15 per cent, and finance by 4.61 per cent. The manufacturing sector saw a decline of 0.51 per cent, while the microfinance sector decreased by 0.75 per cent.

Several companies saw significant price increases, including Ruru Hydropower, CEDB Hydropower, Sagarmatha Hydropower, Kutheli Bukari Small Hydropower, Bhagwati Hydropower, Upper Mailung Khola, Vision Lumbini Energy, Muktinath Agriculture Company, City Hotel, Mountain Hydro Nepal, and Hathway Investment Company, all of which increased by 10%. Rawa Energy’s price increased by 9.8 per cent, and Himalayan Reinsurance by 9.7 per cent.

On the downside, Nepal Finance’s price dropped by 10 per cent, Himalayan Microfinance decreased by 7.6 per cent, Guheshwori Merchant Bank by 6.2 per cent, Sri Investment Finance by 6.2 per cent, and Samriddhi Finance by 6.1 per cent.

In terms of transaction volume, the top performers were Himalayan Reinsurance, NRN Infrastructure, Sanima Mai Hydropower, Shivam Cement, and Mountain Energy.
