Kathmandu, December 18
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli says he saved many lives of then rebelling Maoist cadres during the time of decade-long armed conflict.
Receiving leaders and cadres of the CPN-Maoist Centre’s youth wing, Young Communist League, at his residence in Balkot of Bhaktapur today, Oli said he was of the view that people should not be killed though he had reservations about the war.
“I have saved many Maoist cadres’ lives by requesting army chiefs and IGs and home ministers,” he said, “We can always debate over which thought or way is right or wrong. But, I believe people should not be killed.”
On the occasion, youth leaders of the Maoist party expressed their commitment over the likely unification between two communist parties and urged Oli to complete the process at the earliest.
“We shed our blood under Prachanda’s leadership, but now we are ready to contribute our toil and sweat under your leadership,” said YCL Vice-Chairperson Biru Tamang.
