Kathmandu, November 20
Onlinekhabar has announced plans to release a list of “50 Influential Women of 2081” on March 8, 2025, marking International Women’s Day. The nominations for this initiative were opened on Tuesday.
According to the call for nominations, Onlinekhabar aims to highlight the impactful contributions of women across Nepal in politics, society, culture, sports, science, and other fields. “Through this list, we aspire to make the meaningful presence of women in various sectors a subject of public recognition,” the statement reads.
Editor-in-Chief Shiv Gaunle described the initiative as a celebration of women’s achievements. “This program identifies and honours 50 of the most inspiring and influential women in Nepal on the occasion of March 8. These women are changemakers who have made significant contributions in their respective fields. This effort is also a celebration of women’s struggles, empowerment, dedication, and talent,” he said.
Last year, Onlinekhabar also published a similar list of 50 influential women. “This year, we will create a preliminary list based on nominations from readers, listeners, and viewers, as well as suggestions from our newsroom team, stakeholders, and other sources,” Gaunle explained. “The preliminary list will be presented to the selection committee, and the final list will be released on March 8 following their recommendations.”
The nomination period ends on December 11.
