Rautahat, September 25
Rautahat District Court has ordered authorities to arrest the chief of an infamous construction company linked to the death of five people in a boat capsize incident last month.
The order came after Pappu Constructions’ Chief Executive Sumit Rauniyar did not present himself in court for a hearing on the August 21 incident on Lal Bakaiya river.
Following the boat capsize, locals had filed a complaint at the District Police Office demanding action against Pappu Construction for not completing a bridge over the river. The locals allege that a pillar erected by Pappu for the new bridge was responsible for the incident as the ill-fated boat capsized after hitting it. Less than 50 per cent of the construction work has been completed so far even as the deadline for the project elapsed in June 2017.
