Janakpurdham, April 9
A man succumbed to injuries he sustained after being beaten up by his son-in-law in Khamgada, Bodebarsain municipality-6 of the Saptari district.
The deceased has been identified as Chhathu Mahato (55), who was assaulted by his son-in-law Ram Chandra Mahato (23), a resident of Bodebarsain-7 over a familiar dispute in December 2022.
With injuries on various body parts, he was hospitalised since then, first at the local Jeevan Jyoti Hospital and then at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
However, he was discharged last week following the improvement but breathed his last at home on Saturday, informs DSP Naresh Kumar Singh, the Saptari District Police Office spokesperson.
After the deceased’s wife file a complaint against the son-in-law accusing him of attempted murder, Mahato has been arrested for further investigation.
