Kathmandu, April 21
UCPN-Maoist leader Gopal Kiranti has stressed the need to topple the KP Oli government and cobble together a consensus government under party President Prachanda.
Kiranti, speaking at a face-to-face at Reporters’ Club Nepal on Thursday: Historically, the KP Oli government tops the list when it comes to committing high treason. There’s a need to bring down this government and form a government under UCPN-Maoist President Prachanda.
If forming a government under Prachanda is not possible, a government can be formed under Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba by reaching an understanding on the Madhesh movement, (post-disaster) reconstruction and the peace process, Kiranti argued.
Kiranti, a standing committee member of the Maoist party, said he will launch a strident movement within the party for removal of the Oli government. He said there will be a vigorous movement within the Maoist party if the party does not withdraw its support to the government.
He claimed that 50 Maoist Central Committee members are supporting his campaign. Kiranti said he will initiate discussions on toppling this government at the Maoist Parliamentary Party, at the politburo and at the party’s central committee.
“This government will not last long. UCPN-Maoist is tired of KP Oli,” he said.
