
Kathmandu, January 29
The US government has continued its deportation process for undocumented immigrants, a policy reinforced under former President Donald Trump. According to newly released data, a total of 1,445,549 immigrants from various countries are set to be deported from the United States.
Among them, 1,365 Nepali nationals are on the deportation list, as per records published by the US immigration authorities.
Trump initiated one of the largest mass deportation campaigns targeting undocumented immigrants, signing an executive order to enforce stricter immigration policies immediately after taking office.
The highest number of deportees are from Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, and El Salvador:
- Honduras: 261,651
- Guatemala: 253,413
- Mexico: 252,044
- El Salvador: 203,822
Additionally, 37,908 Chinese and 17,940 Indian nationals are also among those facing deportation.
