Dang, December 7
Prime Minister Prachanda says the constitution amendment bill he tabled in Parliament will not be withdrawn, so long as he is the country’s chief executive.
Prachanda, who was speaking at a programme in Dang in the Mid-west, the heartland of the Maoist insurgency, said he was open to revising the bill, but would not withdraw it an any cost.
The PM’s statement comes after the main opposition UML termed the bill as being ‘anti-nationalistic’, and demanded that the government withdraw it at the earliest.
During his speech, Prachanda urged agitating parties to sit for talks with the government. He said that the UML will soon understand that it is making a grave mistake by not supporting the amendment bill.
