Madheshi Janadhikar Forum Loktantrik chief Bijay Kumar Gachchadar says the government should put the constituton amendment bill on hold and announce elections at the earliest.
Gachchadar, whose party is part of the ruling alliance, says the tussle between the government and the opposition is impeding the implementation process of the new constitution.
The Madheshi leader, who was speaking to mediapersons in Biratnagar, said, “Given the situation the country is in, we need to put the amendment bill on hold and go for elections.”
He said that it would be difficult for the government to get the amendment bill passed if the UML decides to vote against it. “If the government decides to press ahead with the amendment, the country will face a political crisis,” he added.
Gachchadar said he too was in favour of retaining old civic bodies for the purpose of election.
