Kathmandu, December 11
Lebanon’s government is to deport two Nepali housemaids arrested on charge of helping undocumented compatriots live in the middle-eastern country.
Sujana Rana and Roji Limbu were arrested last week. They are expected to be deported in the next few days.
Rana and Limbu were also actively involved in a workers’ union to safeguard the rights of domestic maids in Lebanon. They had also formed a Nepali women’s group in Lebanon called ‘Nari’.
Following the arrest, various sections of the Lebanese civil society have raised questions about their case. They have said that the duo should be allowed to defend themselves in court.
