A local died after an unidentified gang opened fire in Devdaha Municipality of Rupandehi district on Friday.
The victim has been identified as Basanta Paudel aka Balu. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Butwal-based Lumbini Zonal Hospital.
Meanwhile, local gangster Manoj Pun claimed responsibility of the attack. He is on the run after police suspected his involvement in the murder of local CPN-UML leader Durga Tiwari in 2016 December.

Local injured as unidentified persons open fire in Rupandehi

A local has sustained injuries when an unidentified gang opened fire in Devdaha Municipality of Rupandehi district on Friday.
The injured has been identified as Balu Paudel, age yet to be known. He has received bullets in his head and has been taken to Butwal-based Lumbini Zonal Hospital for treatment.
Witnesses say the motorcycle-borne shooters went towards local Rohinikhola after the attack.
The suspects are yet to be identified.
Police say they have launched a manhunt.
