NEPSE: Nepal stock market gains 52 points

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 52.36 points (2%) on Wednesday, closing at 2,665 points. The market remained bullish throughout the day, with both the index and transaction volume showing significant growth.

The daily turnover reached Rs 9.2 billion, up from Rs 6.19 billion the previous day. While 196 companies saw their stock prices increase, 37 experienced declines, and nine remained unchanged.

All sectors recorded positive growth, with the “Others” sector leading with a 4.24% increase. Banking rose by 1.32%, development banks by 2.74%, finance by 0.89%, hotels and tourism by 2.71%, hydropower by 2.12%, and investment by 3.82%. Similarly, life insurance increased by 1.89%, microfinance by 1.07%, manufacturing by 0.08%, non-life insurance by 1.00%, and trading by 2.45%.

Investors showed particular interest in high-cap stocks, with companies such as HIDCL, NIFRA, Nepal Reinsurance, Himalayan Reinsurance, and Nepal Life Insurance leading the gains.

Corporate Development Bank and Dolti Power saw their stock prices surge by 10%. Green Development increased by 9.8%, HIDCL by 8.4%, and Supermadi Hydropower by 8.2%. On the other hand, Barahi Hydropower’s stock price dropped by 8.2%, followed by River Falls Power with a 5.6% decline and VIN Nepal Microfinance with a 2.8% decline.

In terms of transaction volume, NRN Infrastructure, Nepal Reinsurance, Himalayan Reinsurance, CHDC, and Saptakoshi Development Bank were the top-performing companies.
