NEPSE: Stock market index and turnover decline

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index, along with the daily turnover, declined on Thursday, the final trading day of the week.

The NEPSE index dropped by 11.10 points compared to the previous trading day, settling at 2,654 points. Similarly, the total turnover decreased to Rs 7.85 billion, down from Rs 9.20 billion the day before.

While the share prices of 86 companies increased, 150 companies saw a decline, and 7 remained unchanged. Among the sectoral indices, the Development Bank group rose by 0.83%, while the Manufacturing group remained steady. However, most sectors saw declines, with Banking down by 0.61%, Finance by 2.43%, Hotels and Tourism by 0.78%, Hydropower by 0.55%, Life Insurance by 0.01%, Investment by 0.79%, Microfinance by 0.01%, Non-life Insurance by 0.73%, Others by 0.35%, and Trading by 0.23%.

Among the top gainers, three companies – Samudayik Laghubitta, Corporate Development Bank, and Sikles Hydropower – saw their share prices increase by 10%. Additionally, Saptakoshi Development Bank rose by 9.89%, Dhaulagiri Laghubitta by 9.84%, Narayani Development by 8.46%, Dolti Power by 8.10%, United Idi Mardi by 7.40%, and Support Microfinance by 6.93%.

Conversely, the share prices of Super Madi Hydropower and Mandakini Hydropower fell by 10%. Janaki Finance declined by 7.47%, Pokhara Finance by 5.74%, and Nepal Finance by 4.74%.

In terms of turnover, Saptakoshi Development Bank, NRN Infrastructure, United Idi Mardi, Sindhu Development Bank, and Himalayan Reinsurance Company led the market.
