Kathmandu, December 11

Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and all of his ministers have submitted their asset details to the PMO, but it cannot be made public now, says a government spokesperson.

Joint secretary Damodar Regmi says although it is mandatory for ministers to submit their asset details, it is not compulsory for the government to make it public, unless it is required.

According to prevailing laws anyone who takes government office needs to submit his/her asset details to the government within 60 days of appointment. “In the case of ministers, the Cabinet had been making the details public following a formal decision,” said Regmi.

“We can release the information within minutes, if the government so decides,” he added. “We have not kept it a secret for any other reason.”
