RSP Lawmaker Sobita Gautam elected member of IPU Health Committee

Kathmandu, April 9

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Sobita Gautam has been elected as a member of the Health Committee formed during the 150th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The IPU’s Governing Council elected Gautam along with representatives from 15 other countries for a four-year term. The committee’s tenure will conclude in March 2029.

The decision to upgrade the existing advisory group on health to a formal Health Committee was made during the 214th session of the General Assembly.

Gautam has been elected as Nepal’s representative to the newly formed committee. Other elected members include R Al Mansoori from the United Arab Emirates’ Federal National Council, C Mueke Mumma from Kenya’s Senate, S Jaiswal from India’s Lok Sabha, S Avila from Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies, J Tielen from the Netherlands’ House of Representatives, C Lohr from Switzerland’s National Council, F Ilimi from Algeria’s People’s National Assembly, L Clifford-Lee from Ireland’s Senate, V Riotton from France’s National Assembly, Tangi Muteka from Namibia’s National Council, O Ataniyazova from Uzbekistan’s Senate, and S Tshabangu from Zimbabwe’s Senate.
