The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a significant decline on Sunday, with the NEPSE index dropping by 45.93 points compared to the previous trading day.
The index closed at 2,689 points following the decline, and trading volumes also shrank. The total turnover stood at Rs 7.46 billion, down from Rs 8.36 billion on the previous trading day.
Of the traded companies, the share prices of 27 increased, 214 declined, and 3 remained unchanged. All sector indices recorded losses, with the life insurance sector suffering the steepest drop at 3.07%.
Other sectoral declines included banking (-1.86%), development banking (-1.04%), finance (-1.84%), hotels and tourism (-1.81%), hydropower (-1.98%), investment (-1.33%), manufacturing (-0.32%), microfinance (-1.50%), non-life insurance (-0.83%), others (-0.81%), and trading (-2.13%).
Among gainers, Khani Khola Hydropower rose by 10%, Dolti Power by 8.77%, Swabhiman Laghubitta by 7.89%, and Molung Hydropower by 6.5%.
On the losing side, Manu Sisi Laghubitta, Life Insurance Corporation, Joshi Hydropower, and Samudayik Laghubitta fell by 10%. Divyashwori Hydro lost 7%, Supermadi Hydropower declined by 6.88%, and Sanjen Hydropower dropped by 6.68%.
In terms of transaction volume, the top companies were NRN Infrastructure, Nepal Finance, River Falls Power, Khani Khola Hydropower, and Best Finance.
