Kathmandu, October 24
Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel said the insurance scheme’s coverage will be expanded to Rs 500,000. Announcing the major achievements of the health ministry after he assumed office 100 days ago, Minister Paudel announced that he would work on drug price adjustment.
Saying that he was making efforts for reforms in the health sector, Paudel committed to meeting the target for health insurance and drug price adjustment. “The prime minister is positive for this. We have initiated the process for discussions,” he added.
He was of the view that the health sector has witnessed reforms despite the tough situation created after the natural disasters and dengue spread. Minister Paudel shared that he would begin the nationwide services for screening of cancer and kidney diseases.
Meetings of the thematic committees, activation of public health committees, production of human resources, expansion of curative services, study of medical education, free treatment of burn injuries, free bus service for women health volunteers, health insurance and social security programme, legal and policy reforms, maintenance of health equipment, increased production of Singhadurbar Vaidhyakhana and others have been stated as the major achievements of the ministry in the past 100 days.
