Locals and traders on Friday afternoon cleared obstructions from the Friendship Bridge for resumption of vehicular movement by torching a tent and removing other hurdles.
Protesters associated with the United Democratic Madheshi Front had set up the tent for staging their sit-in aimed at making the KP Oli government address their demands.
This comes at a time when some UDMF leaders have spoken in favour of reopening the Birgunj customs point. Some small vehicles have already started plying the stretch.
According to customs officials, presently there are no vehicles, that have received customs clearance, at Raxaul.
