Rabi Lamichhane’s statement begins at Kathmandu District Court

Rabi Lamichhane, Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), began recording his statement at Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari’s bench in the Kathmandu District Court today.

Last Thursday, the Kaski District Court, under Judge Nitiz Kumar Rai, had ordered Lamichhane and six others to be released on bail. Following the order, Lamichhane was handed over to his family on the condition that he appear before the Kathmandu District Court as required.

This morning, Lamichhane appeared at the court to provide his statement in a case filed against him concerning allegations of fraud involving Swarnalakshmi Cooperative.

According to police investigations, Rs 57.89 million was illegally transferred from Swarnalakshmi Cooperative to Gorkha Media Network. The Office of the Government Attorney has filed a case demanding restitution of the amount.

In addition to the Swarnalakshmi case, legal proceedings are underway against Lamichhane in connection with fraud cases linked to several other cooperatives, including Butwal’s Supreme, Chitwan’s Sahara, and Parsa’s Sano Paila.

Lamichhane was previously released on bail in the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case in Kaski.
