Janakpur, February 19
The provincial government in Province 2 has called members of a struggle committee, which has launched a protest in Birgunj demanding that the city be made the provincial capital, for talks.
The government and the committee members will sit for negotiations tomorrow morning.
Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut has assigned Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Jitendra Sonal to hold the talks.
“We also launched many movements earlier. Therefore, we have called the protesters to hold talks,” Sonal tells Onlinekhabar.
After the federal government decided to station provincial government offices in Janakpur, Birgunj locals have been carrying out different programmes of protest for last few weeks. It, however, is a provisional decision and the permanent capital will be decided by the Provincial Assembly.
